7 Day Kilimanjaro climb via Machame Route
Machame route is the busiest and most popular route to climb Mount Kilimanjaro compared to the rest of the routes. It is a little bit tough to hike on the first 3-days, as its trail passes through the rocks and steeper hiking for almost half way.
This tour is suitable for family, couple, private groups or/and open joining groups. It’s easy for a group joining as many groups of climbers us this route every day.

ESSENTIAL MOUNTAIN CLIMBING GEARS
50L waterproof duffle, small-size backpack, warm clothes including trouser, sweater, thermal underwear, and enough pair of warm socks, Balaclava, snow goggles, or ski sun glasses and scarf, waterproof layers, sun roof hat, warm sleeping bag, mattress, warm jacket, and a pair of gloves. Comfort mountain boots, and walking poles, Sun cream, first aid kit, a knapsack, a pair of getters and water-bottle, minimum 2litres each.

Detailed Itinerary


Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll meet our office representative, followed by an hour drive to the hotel in Moshi Town. After having a short rest at the hotel, our mountain guide will meet you to check your climbing gears and equipment. If some gears will be missing, our guide will help you on how to rent those missing gears from the rental shops.
It takes one hour to reach Machame gate from Moshi town, passing through the villages located on the lower slopes of the Mountain. At the gate you’ll register all the important details like name, Nationality, and passport number. While the registration process is taking place, porters will be sorting and weighing the luggage. You will have spare time to move around taking photo and reading the historical information of Kilimanjaro Mountain.
After all process is completed, you will slowly start hiking, passing through the rain forest to the first point, Machame camp, where you will spend the rest of the day for dinner and overnight. Distance from Machame gate to Machame camp hut is 11km, and it can take you up to 5 hours hiking, and the trail is through Mountain rainfall forest.
After breakfast at Machame camp you will slowly hike up to the next camp, leaving the rain forest and entering the moorland vegetations. You will cross many water streams and walk on a rocky ridge onto Shira plateau that leads you to Shira camp, (3,840m). At the camp you will spend the remaining time for rest, dinner, and overnight.
Leaving Shira camp to Barranco campsite, passing through moorland to semi desert and rocky landscape. A break for lunch will be at Lava Tower (4630m) before continuing hiking down to the camp (3950m). At Barranco Camp you will have a rest, dinner, and overnight.
After breakfast at Barranco camp you will have a short hike to Karanga camp, where you will spend the remaining time for hot lunch, dinner, and overnight.
At barafu base camp you will have a rest, dinner, and early sleeping because you will awake at mid-night for the summit attempt.
Around 01:00am, guide will awake you to get well prepared with the summit gears, warm clothes that can accommodate up to -10 degree Celsius. After all process is done, the guide will slowly lead you to hike up for the summit attempt, passing through Stella point, (5685m) to Uhuru Peak (5895). Congratulation! You have made it to the top of Africa, now you are standing at the Africa’s highest point ‘Uhuru Peak’
The beginning of the sixth day will catch you at the peak if the weather is good, you will be able to spend a couple of minutes at the peak, taking a beautiful photo of your lifetime adventure in Tanzania while sunrises, drinking tea on your thermal bottle before start descending down to Barafu camp.
At barafu camp you will have time to rest, before continuing to hike down to Millemium/Mweka camp for lunch, dinner, and overnight.
It’s the end of 7 days in the jungle, the morning of this day you will be packing all of your stuff ready to leave the park. Crew will be seen organizing and sorting all stuffs for marking the end of the tour. They will be singing, celebrating, and congratulating you for a successful climb. After all that you will hike down to Mweka gate, where you will sign out and receive certificates for those who made their summit attempt successfully. An hour drive from the gate will drop you to the hotel in town, ready for rest and continuing with other schedule.
